Everyone else is doing it.

So even though this has nothing to do with taking pictures, music plays a HUGE part in the work I make. And it's the time of year where everyone puts out a top ten list of favorite albums so I figured I'd join in. But then I saw the ridiculous amounts of music I've acquired over the last 12 months. I got overwhelmed, even after editing out all the stuff I got that I thought was new but just realized it's several years old. I also booted the albums that have some of the best single tracks that are kind of so good that I ignore the rest of the songs on the album (that means Digitalism, Gus Gus, The Pipettes, The Cinematic Orchestra, Tegan and Sara, and Rufus Wainwright, to name a few). I'm sure I will be mocked for some of my choices, but I'm used to that (you know, by the three of you who actually read this thing). So these are the albums that I keep coming back to again and again this year.

1. LCD Soundsystem- Sound Of Silver
2. Arcade Fire- Neon Bible
3. Amy Winehouse- Back To Black
4. Ex-Boyfriends- In With
5. Band of Horses- Cease To Begin
6. The View- Hats Off To The Buskers
7. Aesop Rock- None Shall Pass
8. Patty Griffin- Children Running Through
9. Mice Parade- Mice Parade
10. M.I.A.- Kala

And, since I can't stop myself...

11. Feist- The Reminder
12. Girl Talk- Night Ripper
13. Laura Veirs- Saltbreakers
14. Will Stratton- What The Night Said
15. Mark Ronson- Version
16. Modest Mouse- We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank
17. The Go Find- Stars On The Wall
18. Editors- An End Has A Start
19. New Young Pony Club- Fantastic Playroom
20. Keren Ann- Keren Ann

Annnnnd...the albums I'm still just getting into that may very well bust into the Top 20:

The Field- From Here We Go Sublime
Burial- Untrue
The Dimes- The Silent Generation

Okay, I have to stop. Here's to even more good musical inspiration in the coming year....Cheers.

Hooray for Me! And Ex-Boyfriends! And Mike!

This is pretty cool...I took photos for the cover of the new Ex-Boyfriends CD, and the amazing Mike Segawa did the illustration and design, and MTV.com went and chose the cover for Album Cover of the Week! Who knew?
